We create leading-edge semiconductor and IP products, spanning memory and interfaces to security to smart sensors. Our products are integrated into tens of billions of devices and systems around the globe, running critical applications for Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), mobile, consumer and media platforms.

And our history runs deep – we have been in Silicon Valley for 25+ years and are continually anticipating key technology trends and are developing innovations that drive market changes. From a pure IP provider to becoming a fabless chipmaker, Rambus is evolving to address critical challenges in the semiconductor industry.

As a dynamic organization, we are always seeking to hire exceptional talent to join some of the brightest inventors and engineers in the world to explore their passions to develop products that have real life impact. As well, Rambus benefits are among the most comprehensive and competitive in Silicon Valley.

This is a highly impactful position for the System Solutions Engineering team of the Rambus IP Cores division.  We are looking for a highly motivated Signal Integrity Engineer working on modeling, analysis, and simulations of high-speed SerDes interfaces.  You will work with the design teams to build simulation models for advanced SerDes transceivers and evaluate performance of SerDes PHY across different customer and protocol application channels. You are a team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and you are self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to work with peers across groups and projects.

    Responsibilities

    • Define specifications for robust multi-protocol SerDes IP solutions together with the architecture and design teams
    • Develop IBIS AMI IO and package/system channel simulation models
    • Perform channel margin analysis and evaluate/recommend system level design tradeoffs
    • Modeling of advanced SerDes protocol channels per standard and customer requirements
    • Correlate Tx and Rx SerDes simulation models with measurements
    • Implement SI guidelines and checklists

    Qualifications

    • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering with 3-5 years relevant experience
    • Experience in SI modeling and simulations of high speed SERDES links with emphasis on signal modulation, coding, and FEC knowledge
    • Strong knowledge of EM and transmission line theory, equalization techniques, S-parameters, crosstalk, SSN and jitter mechanisms
    • Working experience with NRZ and PAM4 signaling
    • Proficient with IBIS AMI modeling and simulations using Simulink/Matlab and C/C++
    • Understanding of equalization techniques such as FIR/DFE/CTLE
    • Lab characterization experience with BERTs, scopes and VNA/TDR
    • Strong problem solving and communication skills
