  • Overview

    This position reports to the Director of Supply Chain Management and has broad responsibility for general shipping and export/import compliance with particular focus on facilitating the efficient and timely movement of goods worldwide in a compliance manner. It is expected that the role will provide administrative support for imports and exports as related to US Customs regulations and procedures.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Perform day-to-day trade compliance activities, including the preparation and verification of outbound/Inbound/drop shipment documentation and ensuring timely clearance instructions are provided and problem shipments are addressed.
    • Act as point of contact as a functional expert in Trade Compliance for offices around the globe, with a focus on the Americas.
    • Work proactively and provide guidance to internal departments to ensure international business activities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations.
    • Support investigations/due diligence activities and help implement any corrective action as required.
    • Interface with functional teams to ensure coordination and logistics of shipment.
    • Perform the physical and administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and order fulfillment of products and materials.
    • Maintain records of goods and rejects items. Package and prepare products for final shipment.
    • Select carrier/forwarder for shipment of products and communicate with transportation companies.
    • Liaise with transportation companies to negotiate cost reductions and evaluate and approve freight related invoices.

    Qualifications

     

    • 5-10 years professional shipping and export/import compliance experience.
    • Extensive knowledge of Customs classifications/Harmonized Tariff System.
    • Extensive knowledge of Incoterms and trade terms.
    • Specific work experience with customs broker, logistics and freight forwarders.
