  • Overview

At Rambus, we are turning incredible possibilities into everyday reality by helping to deliver the innovations that greatly impact the world we live in. We create leading-edge semiconductor and IP products, spanning memory and interfaces to security to smart sensors and lighting. Our products are integrated into tens of billions of devices and systems around the globe, running critical applications for Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), mobile, consumer and media platforms.

And our history runs deep – we have been a staple in Silicon Valley for the past 25 years and are continually anticipating key technology trends and are developing innovations that drive market changes. From a pure IP provider to becoming a fabless chipmaker, Rambus is evolving to address critical challenges in the semiconductor industry.

As a dynamic organization, we are always seeking to hire exceptional talent to join some of the brightest inventors and engineers in the world to explore their passions to develop products that have real life impact. As well, Rambus benefits are among the most comprehensive and competitive in Silicon Valley.

The Rambus Security Division (RSD) is dedicated to providing a secure foundation for a connected world. Integrating technologies from Cryptography Research, Bell ID and Ecebs, our innovative solutions span areas including tamper resistance, content and media protection, network security, mobile payment, smart ticketing, and trusted transaction services. Our technologies protect nearly nine billion licensed products annually, providing secure access to data and creating an economy of digital trust between our customers and their customer base. As a premier provider of security solutions, the Rambus Security Division focuses on market sectors that present opportunities for rapid deployment of innovative technologies to meet consumer needs.

Cryptography Research is looking for a talented ASIC Design Engineer to join our world class technology team. This engineer will work closely with other ASIC engineers and architects, as well as security, cryptography, verification and software engineers to architect, design, implement, and integrate digital hardware for a variety of security-related ASIC products. Cryptography and hardware security experience is not required, but an ability to, and interest in, learning about these areas is important.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform RTL-level design, including micro-architectural definition, of digital logic used in secure ASIC cores.
    • Assist with EDA tool-related tasks, such as synthesis, static-timing analysis, logical equivalency checking, and help improve flows and scripts for such tasks.
    • Assist with integration of CRI technology into customer and partner ASIC design projects, in such areas as clocking and reset logic, memory interfaces, test interfaces, and system buses.

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    • BS or MS degree in electrical or computer engineering or closely related degree strongly preferred; but substantial, relevant, outstanding work experience may substitute in some cases.
    • 7 plus years’ experience working as an ASIC design engineer.
    • Familiarity with front-end ASIC design flows, including design, simulation, synthesis, and timing analysis. Experience with back-end flows, especially place-and-route, is beneficial.
    • Proven track record of on-time delivery of silicon-proven designs.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Verilog and digital design.
    • Expertise in some or all of the following areas is beneficial:
      • High performance CPU architecture and design.
      • IP core delivery and handoff issues.
      • Modern SoC design methodologies and architectures.
      • DFT, especially memory testing and characterization and/or Logic BIST methodologies.
      • Manufacturing test, device characterization and qualification, reliability testing.
    • Hardware development experience in UNIX/Linux environments, including supporting tasks such as shell scripting and basic Perl scripts.
    • Ability to work with technical writers in the production of technical documentation.
