    Rambus Labs, part of the Emerging Solutions Division, is looking for a Gigabit Clocking Engineer to advance the state of the art in high performance IO in support of next generation datacenters. Projects span from early investigation and feasibility studies to performance modeling, designing and debugging high-speed IO and communication sub-systems. You will be working in a dynamic and interdisciplinary R&D group that influences and guides Rambus’ technical direction



    • Ownership and leadership in designing clocking and synchronization for high-speed links to defined specifications and milestones and ensuring timely delivery of quality products and services
    • Interacting with technical leaders of the company and senior staff in architecture, engineering, marketing, and corporate development to drive development of high value technologies and IP 
    • Help lead the company’s R&D efforts in developing silicon IP for chip-to-chip communication systems and links.  Potential areas of R&D include deep sub-micron silicon-based technologies such as IO, processor, and memory and SOC-based IPs



    • MS with 5 years of circuit design experience
    • Proven track record of innovation
    • Strong communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) including the ability to work with technical writers in the production of technical documentation
    • Circuit design with experience on frequency-synthesis, CMU, CDR, PLL, IOs, sigma-delta, clocking, clock recovery and voltage regulation
    • Experience in creating behavioral models for transmitter, receiver and timing elements and predicting clock jitter and BER performance in HDLs such as Matlab, Simulink, Verilog-A or VHDL-AMS etc.
    • Prediction and modeling of phase-noise, stochastic clock jitter, and systematic clock jitter
    • Hands-on experience with statistical clock performance modeling tools such as StatEye or ADS
    • Track record of design and production of high-performance SOCs
    • Track record of driving technical solutions across organizational boundaries and multiple technical disciplines



    • PhD with 5 years of circuit design experience
    • Conference attendance and research publication
    • Experience working in and leading R&D and future technology development projects
    • Experience with CTLE, DFE, CMOS digital RF, microwave or optical is optional but will be useful for this position
    • Strong technical breadth in technologies such as PCIe, MIPI and Gbit Ethernet physical layers
    • Experience with deep-submicron CMOS technologies
    • System level experience and understanding of the signal integrity, noise, and packaging challenges of high-speed interfaces
