Overview

 

The Director of IT Applications at Rambus will utilize his/her collaborative, management and technical skills to lead the application development organization. This team works closely with our users to implement Rambus’ application strategy which is aligned with Rambus’ business objectives. This strategy includes the development and enhancement of business processes required to operate the business, maintain compliance, and support our dynamic business model. The director is responsible for establishing the functional goals, plans, and schedules while closely monitoring execution of initiatives, driving issue resolution, and ensuring successful achievement of program goals. Other key responsibilities include managing the day-to-day activities of development, maintenance, and support of the various Rambus applications that are used throughout the global enterprise. This position manages a staff of application developers, business analysts, offshore resources, contractors, and project leaders. In addition, the director is a key member of IT leadership team.

Responsibilities

 

  • Development and maintenance of the Rambus applications strategy which consists of application portfolios and technology roadmaps that have been constructed in a collaborative manner with key business leaders
  • Design, development, and implementation of clear operating practices, policies, and measures that will ensure that IT Applications will effectively achieve its objectives and continuously improve
  • Ensuring that our applications provide long term ownership value by creating an environment of learning and continuous improvement in the user community
  • Managing contractors, vendors, and service suppliers that provide services or perform application development activities
  • Work closely with all business functions and management to ensure application support and service levels are understood and met
  • Collaborate with the other IT groups, Infrastructure and Customer Support, to ensure that applications function as expected and meet the business needs and Service Level Objective
  • Establish and track key metrics for applications development and support including; project execution, implementation success, adoption, availability, usability, responsiveness, and continuity
  • Be a leader and champion on the importance of ascending the application maturity ladder from manual and local solutions thru business applications to enterprise solutions
  • Understand and support Sarbanes Oxley requirements to avoid deficiencies within your organization and your customers
  • Develop strategic and operational plans as part of the regular planning cycle
  • Ensure that plans are in place and applications are prepared for known business cycles (e.g. month, quarter, and year end)
  • Provide management reporting for goals, timelines, budgets, and status
  • Develop your team so that they continuously improve and can become future leader/managers of the Application and IT organization
  • Define, develop and approve exceptions to policy tied directly to area of responsibility

Qualifications

 

  • Excellent partnering and collaboration skills
  • Exceptional communication, both written & verbal; that includes very good listening skills and an open attitude and acceptance to being coached
  • Ability to evangelize and educate on process, strategy, and investments to achieve the Rambus business and application strategy
  • Ability to manage remote resources to achieve efficiency department-wide and go beyond achieving current work results and further develop them to be autonomous yet still connected to the whole
  • A history of success and learning from failures to garner future success
  • Proven project management expertise
  • Ability to multi-task in an ever-changing environment is a must
  • Superior leadership and team motivation skills
  • Excellent business acumen
  • A minimum of 7 to10 years of experience in IT Management with demonstrated increased responsibilities
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science; or equivalent
  • Oracle ERP applications experience a plus
  • ITIL certification desirable
