Bring your "out of the box" thinking and research passion to the Advanced R&D center of Rambus – Rambus Labs. Rambus Labs, a division focused on developing breakout products and looking into the future to solve technology challenges, seeks a Senior Level Memory Architecture Researcher. In this collaborative, company-wide influential position you will be a key mentor and "guru" for the research and design of memory architecture and will help to define the research agenda for extending the corporate Roadmap in this area.




The Sr. Memory Architecture Researcher will join a team of veterans/pioneers in the memory market - investigating, developing and patenting solutions across the memory and storage hierarchy. The Memory Architecture Research group has the responsibility for projecting market and technology trends 5+ years in the future, identifying key roadblocks and disruptive opportunities ahead of the industry, and prototyping solutions that can lead to significant future revenue streams. These solutions should have special emphasis on solving scaling challenges in the enterprise/datacenter markets. Your work will be challenging and you will be expected to produce work of highest research quality which results in substantial innovations in the market.



Top task requirements for this position in order of priority:


1. Champion a memory architecture project, identifying key memory performance limitations and developing innovative solutions, filing patents where appropriate.

2. Propose new memory products or features and work with product group to implement

3. Attend conferences and talk with potential customers to stay up to date on market needs and industry trends



  • BSEE or similar technical degree with 10+ years of industry experience. Advanced degrees are preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in memory system architecture with a track record of developing innovative memory solutions
  • Knowledge of server architecture
  • Knowledge of memory standards (DDRx, LPDDRx, LRDIMM, etc.)
  • Knowledge of emerging memories (RRAM, MRAM, PCM) is a plus
  • Knowledge of serial link protocols (PCIe, SATA etc.) is a plus
  • Knowledge of server software architectures (MMU, VM, Operating Systems, Firmware, etc) in the memory system domain is a plus
  • Knowledge of storage system architectures, especially SSD is a plus
  • Familiarity with current data center system configurations, applications, and performance limitations is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with patents and the US patent process is a plus
