Overview

Rambus, a premier chip and silicon IP provider, is seeking to hire an exceptional Senior Principal Static Timing Design Engineer to join our Memory Interface Design team in Raleigh, North Carolina (remote option available). Candidates will be joining some of the brightest inventors and engineers in the world to develop products that make data faster and safer.

 

As a Senior Principal Static Timing Design Engineer, the candidate will be reporting to the Senior Manager of Design Engineering and is a Full-Time position. Successful applicant will have highly visible role in product definition/design across Rambus sites and take ownership of defining timing sign-off strategies and drive static timing closure on mixed signal designs. This work will influence the next generation of memory interface ASICs.  If you are an innovative individual who is deeply interested in this area and want to develop and implement novel solutions to high-speed timing closure challenges, this is an ideal position for you.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Timing sign-off flows, constraints and QOR metrics for robust, high-speed, power efficient products containing analog macros, custom and standard digital cells
  • Work with analog/mixed-signal team on planning, execution, debugging of block and system level timing analysis
  • Document analysis to show that design achieves critical performance parameters
  • Interact with technical leaders of the company and senior staff to help ensure successful development of high value technologies and products 
  • Mentor junior designers

Qualifications

  • MS EE and 10+ years or PhD EE and 7+ years’ experience of digital/ASIC/IC design
  • Strong expertise in STA timing analysis basics, SOCV/AOCV/POCV concepts, CTS, CDC timing, defining and managing timing constraints, latch timing handling, multi-cycle path
  • Hands-on experience with STA tools (PrimeTime preferrable, Tempus)
  • Experience in driving timing closure at the chip-level and across hard macro boundaries
  • In-depth knowledge of cross-talk noise, signal integrity, parasitic extraction
  • Significant experience with digital and custom back-end flows, methods and tools (Innovus, ICC2, Virtuoso)
  • Expert in scripting languages - tcl,perl, makefiles
  • Basic knowledge of device physics
  • Experience in Nanotime or similar tools is a plus
  • Experience in leading and driving technical solutions across organization
  • Experience working in Analog/Mixed-signal products is highly desired
  • Experience in designing memory interfaces such as DDR4/5 or serial links such as PCIE/USB/SATA/Display Port is desirable

Rambus offers a competitive compensation package including base salary, bonus, equity, matching 401(k), employee stock purchase plan, comprehensive medical and dental benefits, time-off program, and gym membership.

 

The US salary range for this full-time position is $121,600.00 to $282,500.  Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions.
