Overview

Rambus, a premier chip and silicon IP provider, is seeking to hire an exceptional Physical Design CAD Engineer to join our Central CAD Team. Selected candidates will be joining some of the brightest inventors and engineers in the world to develop products that make data faster and safer.

As a Physical Design CAD Engineer, the candidate will be reporting to the Director of CAD. In this role the candidate will be in a technical leadership role owning common digital implementation flows from RTL to GDS flows for multiple SoC design teams across Rambus business units. The Rambus CAD team is responsible for advanced CAD flows, infrastructure and methodology for world-wide design teams working on cutting edge product chips designs for memory interface chips and silicon IP designs.

Rambus offers a flexible work environment, embracing a hybrid approach for the majority of our office-based roles. We encourage employees to spend an average of at least three days per week working onsite, allowing for two days of remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop flows for physical design implementation from RTL to GDS of hierarchical SoC designs.
  • Work with digital design block and SoC design engineers across multiple teams to meet their requirements using EDA tools, primarily Genus and Innovus, as the core engines for design construction, and leading-edge EDA tools for analysis and signoff to meet aggressive design requirements.
  • Work with custom/analog designers to characterize, generate and integrate abstract models of their designs in a digital-on-top design methodology.
  • Implement automated routing solutions to satisfy a variety of block-to-block interconnect constraints.
  • Evaluate and recommend advanced methodologies, EDA tools and AI techniques for optimizing the PPA (performance, power, area) quality of the designs.
  • Investigate and deploy techniques such as structured place and route, hierarchical design and advanced clocking to converge the designs on PPA and meet the tapeout requirements.
  • Develop modular, extensible, scalable CAD flows; provide user documentation, training and support

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in CS or EE.
  • 10+ years CAD/EDA experience in SOC/ASIC/Custom design flow environment.
  • Must have direct hands-on experience with flow development using EDA tools Genus/Innovus or DC/ICC2/FC.
  • Experience with a wide variety of CAD tasks including logic synthesis, place and route (PnR), custom/analog block characterization, clock optimization, DFT, timing/noise/power analysis, EMIR/power integrity, post-route ECO, logical equivalence checks, and physical verification.
  • Understanding of input/output data and common databases used by EDA tools in semiconductor design flows.
  • Extensive software development experience with Python, TCL, Makefile.
  • Good interpersonal, collaboration and horizontal leadership skills
