Overview

Rambus, a premier chip and silicon IP provider, is seeking to hire an exceptional Failure Analysis (FA) Engineer to join our QA team in our IC Operations located in Taiwan or South Korea. Candidates will be joining some of the brightest inventors and engineers in the world to develop products that make data faster and safer.

 

As a Failure Analysis Engineer, the candidate will be reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance and will be interacting with internal customers and key support groups (Customer Quality, Product/Test Engineering, Design, Applications Eng., Packaging Eng. and others).  This is a full-time position. The FA Engineer shall be responsible for generating and implementing an FA plan for analyzing failures from customer returns, reliability qual testing, low yield or other failure sources to determine failure causes.  Shall be responsible for performing failure analysis using internal and subcon FA lab capabilities. 

 

Rambus offers a flexible work environment, embracing a hybrid approach for the majority of our office-based roles. We encourage employees to spend an average of at least three days per week working onsite, allowing for two days of remote work

Responsibilities

  • Perform and coordinate electrical and physical failure analysis to support customer returns, and reliability qualification failures.
  • Develop and implement a failure analysis plan to determine failure cause using fault isolation techniques and advanced analytical tools.
  • Provide guidance in determining the FA flow and selecting the methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Collaborate with external FA labs and the supply chain (Foundry, and OSAT’s) when applicable, to execute FA plan for failure cause determination.
  • Generate customer-facing FA reports and collaborate with appropriate functions to drive applicable 8D corrective actions.
  • Track and analyze FA data to drive continuous improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronics Engineering, Masters or PhD an advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in semiconductor failure analysis
  • Proficiency in basic electrical engineering, semiconductor device physics, silicon device physical failure analysis, semiconductor manufacturing processes, circuit analysis, and product testing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and technical report writing ability.
  • Working knowledge or hands-on experience in failure analysis, electrical fault isolation, defect characterization tools and use of analytical techniques such as: ATE, curve trace, nano/micro-probing, OBIRCH/EMMI microscopy, CSAM, XRAY, FIB, SEM/EDX, cross-sectioning, de-processing and other advanced analytical techniques.
