Rambus, a premier chip and silicon IP provider, is seeking to hire an exceptional Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Characterization Engineer to join our IP Cores team in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Candidates will be joining some of the brightest inventors and engineers in the world to develop products that make data faster and safer.


As an Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Characterization Engineer, you will work on post-silicon evaluation of Rambus’ designs in a lab environment.  You will work with a small but highly experienced team in SerDes PHY design, where your ideas and efforts will make a difference. The candidate will be reporting to the Sr. Manager of Systems Solution Engineering and is a Full-Time position.


  • Evaluation of Rambus’ leading edge SERDES designs in lab using cutting-edge test equipment such as BERTs, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, and Network Analyzers
  • Development of test methodologies and improvements to current test practices for validating silicon designs against various industry standards and internal specifications
  • Development of software for configuring the device, test automation, and data analysis
  • Work with cross functional teams such as analog designers, digital designers, FW designers, system designers, and application engineers in devising experiments, drive data collection, and present results analysis
  • Test Report generation for internal and customer consumption
  • Support Marketing Teams in customer demonstration of Rambus’ products
  • Support Application Engineers in supporting customers issues and debugs
  • Provide inputs to Package and PCB design requirements
  • Provide feedback to design team on Design for Test (DFT) features


  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, or related engineering discipline
  • +4 years of validation experience with at least 2 years in high-speed SerDes and/or other highspeed analog/mixed signal designs
  • Strong knowledge of practical and theoretical aspects of high-speed analog/mixed-signal testing
  • Experience with high-speed test equipment such as Bit-Error Rate Tests (BERT), Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, and Network Analyzers.
  • Solid software programming/scripting experience in languages such as Python or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter, takes initiative, strong communication skills, great team player


Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of analog IC circuit design and architecture
  • SI/PI knowledge
  • IC development tools; Cadence Virtuoso, Verilog, etc.
  • Firmware development
  • IBIS-AMI simulation
  • PCB Design knowledge
  • Understanding of PAM4 signaling and test practices
